So now I am just pissed off!  I have spent the last 45 minutes creating an awesome and dare I say witty post and I lost the entire thing.  Now that is so aggravating.  I know it has happened to everyone but grrrr I am F’n mad as hell.  I wrote about how sad I was that I had to go back to the coal mines today after having an extra long weekend.  I wrote about packing my old tin lunch box and lacing up my old time worn leather work boots for my 30 mile walk to the mine. NOT!  I actually jumped out of bed after the alarm on my cell phone woke me.  I showered, powdered, fired up the CHI and tried to make myself presentable for the day.  Then I jumped in my Honda floored it to Starbucks and then headed off to drive the 30 miles to work while listening to my book on cd.  I am trying to work thru all of the Classics…Shopaholic & Baby!  I know very heavy listening.  But it keeps me entertained.  So after I got to work I found this:

DSCN0925Holy make all my dreams come true!  I call it fate that I found this catalog.  I cannot wait to sit here this evening and pick out all of my favorites and make my Christmas list for Santa.    And lucky for me I got my new glasses today.  Yay!  So now I can shop for my yummies with a clear view.  And I am feeling pretty stylish to.

Yup I am feelin those new specs!  I really like them.  Anyway I don’t know anyone who really gets into shopping on Cyber Monday but this year I thought I might give it a whirl.  And I found my new best friend.

garmin 305Oh yeah baby my new Garmin.  I am sooo excited.  I cannot wait to get it.  It was between the 305 and the new 405 but after reading a gazillion reviews I decided to go with the older version.  I thought that the touch bezel on the 405 would aggravate me.  And I got this one brand new off of Walmarts website for $99 includes free shipping.  That is a great deal!  After my stellar fail also known as the Turkey Trot I have tried to redeem myself by doing 2 back to back days of running.  Each run was about 4 miles, so I feel a little less like a complete and total loser.  I heard some feed back from the Turkey Trot and I guess it poured rain until just before the start time where it lightened to a cold drizzle for the duration of the race.  Had I known I would have went.  I guess there is next year.  Anyway I am excited about the freedom the Garmin is going to give me as far as just taking off and running.  Not worried about mapping it out in advance and trying to figure out the mileage.  And I am tired of only going on the same routes that I have already measured.  This way I can mix it up a little.  So yippy skippy! I will write a review of it as soon as I give it a test drive.  Well I have spent enough time doing and redoing this post so off I go to find myself some viddles.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING.  I awoke at 3am to very heavy rain and high winds.  Went back to sleep and woke up at 6:30am for the Turkey Trot and it was still raining not as bad it was still coming down.  So I decided to skip the race.  And now I feel absolutely terrible about it.  I was really looking forward to it.  Was it the right decision to make?  Yes maybe.  Do I feel like a failure?  Yes.  Maybe I dont have what it takes.

The creepin crud! November 24, 2010

5:00 am found me sitting in bed with my laptop wide awake but feeling awful.  I got up to try and make it to Jazzercise this morning and just could not do it.  I have been sick for 2 WEEKS.  I am so frustrated.  It is not getting any better.  I am on antibiotics and every over the counter cold medicine known to man with no results.  I have never had a sore throat hang on this long.  I know that I am not alone every where I go people are sick with this crud.  The most excersise I have gotten is easy 2 mile run / walks.  My lungs hurt way to much.   So this brings my thinking to tomorrows 5 mile Turkey Trot in downtown Cleveland.  The forecast says heavy rain!  WTF???  Heavy rain, cold temps, head cold, chest cold, and awful sore throat.  That  is a recipe for disaster.  I am not ruling it out completely yet.  If we are spared the rain I am still going for it.  If I can’t run it all then I guess I will walk but I will be doing it.  If it is a complete downpour however……um no I just can’t risk being soaked and getting sicker.  So I guess I will wait it out and make a last minute decision.

Now on to more important things……um shopping.  Specifically BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING.  Yup I am one of those people.  I am already getting pumped to get out there and let the elbows fly!  I have some very specific items I am looking for.  Samsung TV, Garmin for the car & arm, Super Duper Cozy electric blanket, and well any other shiny objects that catch my eye.  This year my hubba bubba hubby wants to go along.  Um I dont think he has trained properly for this event.   We shall see if he makes it or ends up sitting in the car with all the other old guys!   We have an easy day planned for Thanksgiving, we are going to my brother & sister n laws.  Just an easy peasy day for the 4 of us.  My only requested contribution is a Pumpkin Pie.  Now that I can do!

sniffles & Coughs November 20, 2010

As I mentioned in my last post on my way home from Michigan last weekend I started getting an increasingly bad sore throat.  Well that quickly developed into a full blown knock me on my butt head and chest cold.  Since Sunday night I have been sick.  I feel like my head is going to burst while an elephant is simultaneously sitting on my chest.  So needless to say it has been a very long week.

I cannot tell you how hap hap happy I am that it’s Friday.  Even though I have been snorting, coughing, wheezing…etc etc. (you get the idea) they still expected me to hold up my end of the deal and actually show up to work.  I have been a walking billboard for the Number One Reason NOT To Squander your PTO Days.  The last 5 days I have paid for those days of sunshine and going to the pool when I should have been at work cause now when I really do need to stay home, alas I cannot.  Unfortunately due to the sickness I have been unable to work out or run all week long.  Like I said it has been a lonnggggg week.  I get so worried about losing ground when I miss workouts but with the severe chest congestion and my long history of asthma and pneumonia I know the smartest thing is to take a break and let my self get better.  So tonight I get to hang out with my favorite hubby well ok my only hubby we are not in Utah.  And I am going to watch my favorite Friday night show.

Yup I love this show.  It’s a guilty pleasure and I secretly wish that I could be exploited in that 360* mirror. And it helps me to not show up to work looking like this.                                                                                                                      And hopefully I will actually be able to sleep in tomorrow.  I guess if I consume enough of this little cocktail it may just be possible to look like this little fuzz ball.

So on Saturday after doing some major damage at the outlet mall on our wallets and feet we decided to go to another super popular totally holiday oriented town Frankenmuth, MI.  This place bleeds Christmas.  It is a world famous little German / Bavarian tourist hot spot.  Our main purpose for going was for dinner.  They have the most amazing chicken at this place.

I can assure you that they do not dissapoint there were literally hundreds of people in line waiting for tables.  I shared my husbands meal.  And when I say “share” I really mean took some random bites.  But man each one of them were well planned and so worth it.  Not only was the chicken fab but they had homemade noodles with butter and toasted bread crumbs on top.  These are the times when I wish I could eat just a little more.  After dinner we looked around town a bit and had some fun before heading back to my sisters house for the night.

Today I am blogging on the road.  We are driving back to Cleveland from spending the weekend in Michigan with my family.  We had tons o’ fun but now must get home to these guys:

Lucky for us we have a friend to hire to help us take care of them.  We could take little Casey with us but not big Jed.  So like real kids it’s not fair to take one and not the other.  So they both have to stay home and have a sitter.  The last 3 days have been busy.  Filled with shopping and eating.  On Friday and Saturday we went to BIRCH RUN OUTLET MALL.  This place is huge.  We did not realize that it was a special weekend for the area.  They had huge sales for what is called WIDOW HUNTERS WEEKEND.  I guess there are so many deer hunters and its such a big deal that hey have spectacular sales catered to all the ladies.  I felt like I was out Black Friday.  Or maybe the last weekend before Christmas.  If our country is currently in a recession I can  assure you that these shoppers were not feeling it.  The stores were packed and the lines were 20 people deep.   But the sales were great.  I found lots of great stuff.  And they had a Bare Escentuals  outlet.  I heard the angels singing when I walked thru the door.

The shopping was the secondary reason for going.  The primary reason for being there was a charity event at a golf/ ski resort where they have an amazing array of Christmas trees, wreaths, and gift baskets.  They all have different themes and the trees are valued up to $1000.  They sell raffle tickets to put in for those you like.  It is a really fun evening that is super festive with good food and friends.  Friday night is a closed to the public VIP night. So they have yummy “heavy” appetizers.  So for my family that means noshing on a full meal.  And you wonder where I get it???  To finish up the event they have a brunch today (Sunday) and they will draw for the raffles this afternoon.  Hubby and I decided to skip the brunch today and head home.  I have to be at work tomorrow and I did not want to put off the 5 hour drive back.  Plus I can’t really enjoy the heavy foods and the “all you can eat” mindset at the brunch.  I would have loved to but decided it best to pass this time.  Trust me there has been nothing but food food food all weekend.

Just curious….is it to early for this guy?

Yup that’s right it’s Mr. Clause.  I cannot believe that we are speeding like a stray bullet towards the holiday season already.  It seems like this year has flown by.  Here a pic of me and the big guy.

And here is some of the family on the way to Friday nights event.
